Key Fob Battery Replacement
Key Fobs will require battery replacement periodically. A key fob low battery condition may be indicated by a
trouble condition on your system keypad, a red, flashing light on the key fob, or your key fob may not function
at all.
Changing the battery in your key fob is quick and easy. If you have your replacement battery ready to go, you
can follow these step-by-step instructions.

To replace your key fob battery:
1. Put your system in test mode
. This will result in a brief siren and beeping from your panel in 30
second intervals.
2. Remove any retaining screw from the rear of your key fob.

3. Open the key fob by inserting a small instrument, such as a small flathead screwdriver, between the
two halves and twisting gently to separate them. Some key fobs may have a slot at one end of the
fob where you can insert the screwdriver to pry the device open.
4. Observe how the batteries are installed–paying attention to which side of each coin battery is up, [+]
or [-], so that the new batteries can be installed in the same manner.
5. Insert a small flathead screwdriver under the battery and twist to release the battery.
6. Insert the new batteries. Pay attention to which side of the coin battery, [+] or [-], is facing up.
7. Replace the cover by snapping it in place. Reattach the retaining screw, if applicable.
8. Test the key fob by standing in front of the keypad and depressing the key fob buttons to arm and
disarm the system. Verify that the system was armed and disarmed by the key fob.
9. Remove your system from test mode.
