OUTDOOR FURNITURE COVER GUIDE & CARE
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Outdoor furniture should be covered when not in use to protect against the elements. Before placing covers on
furniture, spray off any debris with a hose and wipe furniture dry with a soft cloth; residue trapped on the surface
can create mold. For ongoing care of covers, spray off any dirt or debris with a hose once a month. A more
rigorous cleaning will be needed every year; use a soft bristle brush and a cleaning mixture of cold or lukewarm
water (under 100°F) and mild, natural soap. Avoid harsh detergents. For stubborn stains, apply a mixture of
diluted chlorine bleach and water. Lightly spray mixture on the fabric (non‑coated side). Do not soak fabric for
more than 2 minutes; prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals can damage the interior lining. Rinse thoroughly.
Air dry only.
HOW TO USE
1. Thoroughly clean all furniture and cushions before storage. Allow furniture to completely dry before storage.
For detailed furniture cleaning instructions, please refer to our care documents for each material type.
2. Cushions should be stored in a dry place when not in use for an extended period of time and during the off
season. Cushions must be completely clean and dry before storage.
3. If it’s not possible to store cushions, lay back cushions down flat on the seat before covering. This will allow
the cover to fit properly.
4. Place cover over furniture; the side that has the long strap attached goes in the back. If your cover has a
zipper, cover the furniture with the zipper open, then zip close for a secure fit.
5. For sectionals, arrange the furniture as you normally configure it and place each cover over the appropriate
piece; the side with the long strap attached goes in the back. Zip covers together from the back to the front.
(See Image B.)
6. Bring straps underneath the furniture from back to front and buckle to keep covers secure.
7. For tables:
All covers for dining tables, dining table sets, coffee tables, side tables and console tables should be placed
over the tenting devices that are included. These devices provide elevation, allowing water to run off and not
puddle. When one tent is included, place it in the center of the table; when your cover comes with two tents,
space them evenly along the length of the table top. (See Image A.)
Custom dining sets:
Dining set covers require all the dining chairs to be pushed under the table as far as possible. Dining set
covers are available for most RH collections. If you do not see your specific configuration, please contact
your local gallery or call 800.762.1005.

SECTIONAL COVERS
A custom‑fit cover is available for each of our sectional components. Components are named by the position of
the arm as you face the piece. If your sectional configuration is armless on one or both sides, you will need to
purchase either one or two end panels for complete coverage, as shown below.
For a sectional configuration
with 2 armless sides, you’ll need
to purchase a left end panel and
a right end panel.
For a sectional configuration
with one armless side, you’ll
need to purchase one (left or
right) end panel.
Sectional configurations with
arms at both ends do not require
separate end panels.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT KIND OF FABRIC IS USED TO MAKE RH FURNITURE COVERS?
RH uses breathable, stain‑resistant fabric that’s highly resistant to water, mold, mildew, tearing and fading,
protecting furniture from dust and dirt, harsh ultraviolet rays and inclement weather.
HOW DO I USE MY RH FURNITURE COVER?
Furniture frames and cushions must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before covering.
If possible, cushions should always be removed to protect against mold spores that thrive in damp environments.
However, your RH cover was designed for the cushions to be on the frame, with the back cushions laid flat on
the seat cushion(s), so if storing cushions is not an option, they will be protected by the breathable, stain‑resistant
cover if properly cleaned and dried.
If your furniture has back cushions, lay them down flat on top of the seat cushions before putting the cover on.
This will ensure the cover fits properly.
If your cover is for a dining table set, make sure all chairs are pushed in as far as possible before putting the cover on.
For dining tables, coffee tables and side tables, place the included tenting device(s) on the flat surface before
putting the cover on.
Place the cover(s) over the furniture. Ensure that the long straps are at the back and the short straps are in the front.
If your cover has a zipper, unzip before placing over the frame, and then zip up once properly placed. Feed the long
straps under the furniture to the front, and secure the straps with the attached buckles. Tighten the straps for a
secure fit.
WHAT ARE TENTING DEVICES AND HOW DO I USE THEM?
Tenting devices are included with most coffee table, side table, dining table, dining table set and daybed covers. They
are designed to help water run off the cover instead of pooling on the large, flat surface. Tenting devices are placed on
the flat surface of the furniture frame before the cover is put on. The cover should sit over the tenting devices.
I ORDERED MULTIPLE COVERS. HOW CAN I TELL WHICH COVER IS WHICH?
On the front of the cover near the short strap and buckle, there are two labels; one of the labels has the name of the
cover, identifying which frame it fits.
MY COVER DOESN’T FIT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Check the description label at the front of the cover (next to the short strap) to ensure that the cover is being
placed on the correct frame.
If your furniture has back cushions, lay them down flat on top of the seat cushions before putting the cover on.
This will ensure the cover fits properly.
If your cover has a zipper, make sure the zipper is unzipped. This will help the cover go over the frame more easily.
If your cover came with tenting devices, make sure they are upright and placed on the flat surface of the frame.
If none of the above steps helps, contact RH customer service at 800.762.1005.
WATER IS POOLING ON MY COVER. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Make sure all included tenting devices are upright and placed on the flat surface of the frame.
Ensure that all back cushions are laid down flat on the seat cushion(s). The covers were designed to help water run
off by placing the cushions flat.
Make sure the cover is pulled as far down as possible on the frame to prevent sagging on top, which could cause
water to collect. Secure cover with the attached straps and tighten to ensure the cover stays taut and in place.
Check the description label at the front of the cover to ensure that the cover matches the furniture frame.
If none of the above steps helps, contact RH customer service at 800.762.1005.
