Listed below are a number or discounts and specials available to educators. While eligibility
changes based on where you purchase, most offers are redeemable by any teacher with
proof of employment by a faculty identification card or pay stub. It is always a best to call
ahead before making a purchase to avoid frustration.
ARTS, CRAFTS & SCHOOL SUPPLIES
1. The Container Store
The Container Store helps teachers stay organized all year long with
their Organized Teacher Program. Register online and you will receive
exclusive discounts throughout the entire year. A school ID will be required to
receive discounts with in-store purchases.
2. Office Depot
The free Office Depot Star Teacher Program educators a number of special
discounts and rewards. In addition to 10% in rewards points on select
purchases, members also have exclusive access to special events and sales
throughout the year.
3. Office Max
The popular supply store offers a MaxPerks Rewards program specifically for
teachers. Benefits include $10 in rewards for every $75 spent on qualifying
purchases, and $2 in rewards for each ink or toner cartridge recycled. Sign-
up online to get your membership card.
4. FedEx Office
Thanks to the FedEx Office Academic Edge program you'll receive 15-
percent off nearly all products, including brochures, posters and photos. This
discount is available both online and in-store.
5. Staples
Register for the Staples Teacher Rewards Program to garner five-percent
back in rewards points and free shipping from Staples.com. The program
covers a slew of products, from ink and paper to teaching and art supplies.
6. Joann Fabric
The free Teacher Rewards Discount Card entitles educators to 15-percent off
all purchases and new members receive a 20-percent off bonus for signing
up.
7. Michaels

8. Hobby Lobby
Hobby Lobby extends their 10-percent discount to a number of community
organizations, including schools. The one catch is you have to pay with an
organizational check or credit card.
9. Blick Art Materials
Teachers should sign up for the Dick Blick Preferred Card. It’s completely free
and gets you 10% off purchases at Blick and Utrecht stores. Blick also offers
organizational discounts for bulk orders.

1. Barnes & Noble
The B&N Educator Program provides teachers with 20-percent off the publisher's list
price on purchases for classroom use.
2. Half Price Books
Sign up for a Half Price Books' Educator's Discount Card and be rewarded with
discounts of 10-percent year-round. This discount is truly all-inclusive, available to
teachers, homeschoolers, librarians and even teachers who have been laid-off in the
last year.
3. PBS
Educators who sign up for the PBS LearningMedia program will receive free access
to tens of thousands of videos, games, lesson plans and other educational materials
for the classroom.
4. Book Warehouse
The perks of flashing that school ID aren't lost at Book Warehouse. Show your valid,
school-issued card to join the Educator's Book Club and get a 15-percent discount
on most in-store purchases.
5. The New York Times
Keep your students up-to-date on current events with The New York Times’ special
rate for educators. The first four weeks will cost you just $0.99, and every week after
will be discounted by 50 percent.
6. The Wall Street Journal
The special educator's rate from The Wall Street Journal is mostly targeted to
college professors and those with older students. Still, it's hard to beat the savings of
the discounted subscriptions.
7. National Geographic
Teachers can receive numerous benefits from the famous publication including half-
price copies of past issues and a $12/year subscription rate.
CLOTHING
1. LOFT
Fashion forward educators are rewarded for their posh style through the Loft Loves
Teachers program. Register to get 15-percent off all full-price, in-store purchases,
plus perks like teacher appreciation nights and exclusive sweepstakes.
2. Aerosoles
Bring your teacher ID shopping at Aerosoles to save 15% on footwear priced $39.99

4. Eddie Bauer
Provide verification of your status as a teacher and Eddie Bauer stores will give you

5. Talbots
Update your wardrobe before the next school year starts with the 15% off discount
from Talbots. It can be used for any full-price, in-store purchases with a valid ID.
6. Banana Republic
Bring your valid teacher ID to a Banana Republic store and receive 15% off full-price
purchases.
ELECTRONICS & SOFTWARE
1. Apple Store
The House of Jobs is surprisingly generous to teachers of all grade levels, offering
varying discounts up to $200 on computers and accessories through the Apple
Education Store.
2. Bose
The Bose offer is primo, particularly for those in need of sonic stimulation. Save up
to 15% on most music systems and accessories. Call their Sales Solution Team at
1-800-353-4207 and ask for the “Educator's Program” for pricing and to place an
order.
3. Dell
If your school is affiliated with Dell you can get special pricing on your purchase of a
computer or other products. Call Customer Service before paying to apply the
discount.
4. Cell Phone Companies (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint)
This discount varies by provider, but teachers can save loads on a personal cell
phone bill, sometimes up to 20 percent a month. Visit your provider's business or
discount portal and input your school email address to check if your institution is
registered.
5. Adobe
Shop direct from the Adobe Education Store and receive discounts on select
software, including bundles and suites. Adobe requires proof of employment as an
educator before applying the discount.
6. Lenovo
Through Lenovo’s Academic Purchase Program, teachers may receive a discount
on their purchase. Select your state and school for a list of deals on tablets,
computers and laptops.
HOTELS & ATTRACTIONS
1. Marriott Hotels
Marriott grants teachers a discount at a slew of hotels across the nation. Whether
you book online or in-person, show your school ID at check-in to receive the special
rate. Rules on this discount are a bit vague -- they mention government employees,
which would imply only public school employees -- but most hotel employees don't
bite. Feel free to ask.
2. National Park Service
Show a valid school ID at a slew of National Park Service visitor centers across the
nation and receive 15-percent off many purchases. The discount doesn't apply to
park entry fees, camping fees or Smokey the Bear petting zoo fees.
3. Hotels/Lodging
When reserving any hotel by phone or on line, ask for the government rate. If the
rate is available, all you need is your Pike employee ID of payroll stub.
MUSEUMS & ZOOS
1. Art Institute of Chicago
Teachers at any level are entitled to free admission with a valid school ID. In order to
get a free pass you must first visit the Crown Educator Resource Center and sign up
for the Educator Network.
2. The Field Museum of Chicago
Educators need only present a valid school ID for free admission at The Field
Museum in Chicago, dedicated to all things historic and otherwise dug up. The
museum is located at 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, only steps from Lake Michigan.
3. Colonial Williamsburg
Take a trip back in time and discover Colonial Williamsburg with the discounted rates
on general admission tickets. This offer can only be redeemed at a walk-up ticket
window.
4. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago
Teachers in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin are eligible for one free
general admission ticket with a valid school ID. Register online in advance to receive
your pass. Educators outside these four states can receive $3 off their admission by
presenting a valid school ID or current paystub to the cashier. The aquarium is at
1200 S. Lake Shore Drive in the same complex at The Field Museum.
