AMCAS “PLAN TO

for admitted students
on AMCAS
You may select one school to “PLAN TO ENROLL” on AMCAS
if you wish after Feb. 21. This is not required by UMMS but
highly recommended. We understand that you might be holding
other acceptances at this time. All medical schools will ask that
you withdraw from any school where you do NOT plan to enroll
as soon as possible. This is a professional courtesy that aids
them in their planning.
By March 15
Initial scholarship offers
are disbursed
No application is required. Scholarships will be disbursed via
email.
By April 15
Admitted students
reduce choices to three
schools (highly
recommended)
UMMS highly recommends, but does not require, accepted
students narrow their admittance offers to three medical
schools, if applicable. Committing early allows us to build a
class and a community with whom you will begin to interact.

UMMS requires you to choose one school to “PLAN TO
ENROLL” on AMCAS and convey your decision on the UMMS
applicant portal. You need to decline all other acceptances, but
you may remain on waitlists. If you require additional time
beyond April 30 to make your decision, please contact Director
Carol immediately. This is the last date that a UMMS admitted
student may hold multiple acceptances.

“COMMIT TO
ENROLL” on AMCAS
(highly recommended)
UMMS highly recommends that admitted students who have
made their decision select “COMMIT TO ENROLL” on AMCAS
and withdraw all other applications. By selecting “COMMIT TO
ENROLL”, an admitted student has indicated that they have
made their final selection and withdrawn from all waitlists. If
UMMS receives notification from AMCAS that you COMMIT
TO ENROLLat another institution, UMMS has the right to
withdraw your seat from our class.
By June 9

UMMS specific
deadline
UMMS requires
“COMMIT TO
ENROLL” on AMCAS
and decision via
UMMS
applicant portal
UMMS requires admitted students to select one school to
“COMMIT TO ENROLL” on AMCAS and convey their decision
on our
UMMS applicant portal by June 9 at 11p ET. Failure to
do this on AMCAS and our UMMS applicant portal will result in
UMMS rescinding your offer of admission.
WAITLIST OFFERS: You will have five business days to respond to an acceptance offer from UMMS after
April 26. This will be reduced to two business days between May 15 - June 9. UMMS will not offer seats to any
of our waitlist candidates if they have begun a pre-matriculation program, attended orientation, or enrolled in
classes at another medical school OR have selected “COMMIT TO ENROLL” at another medical school.
Throughout this entire process, students need to communicate directly with all schools regarding their
decisions. These deadlines may differ for other schools.
University of Michigan Medical School follows the AAMC application and acceptance protocols for medical
schools. All prospective MD and MD/PhD students are encouraged to review the AAMC guidelines for
applicants. We require that admitted students acknowledge they have read these UMMS Admissions
Protocols.
