Lumberjack World Championships
Announces Final 2022 Schedule
Hayward, Wis. (July 13, 2022) For over 60 years, Hayward, Wisconsin, has been home to the greatest and
most prestigious lumberjack and lumberjill competition worldwide, the Lumberjack World Championships
(LWC), a three-day celebration of timber sports. This year, from July 28 30, 2022, 99 competitors from
around the globe and across the nation will compete for a purse of nearly $72,000 in a variety of timber sports
disciplines.
Lumberjack World Championships athletes compete in twenty-four events, including, logrolling, boom running,
sawing, chopping, axe throwing, and speed climbing. Information on each unique timber sports discipline is
available at LumberjackWorldChampionships.com. Each day’s competition will culminate with a crowd favorite,
the team relay, combining speed climb, boom run, single-buck saw, underhand chop, and standing block chop
disciplines. LWC quarterfinal competitions begin on Thursday, July 28, with semifinal competitions on Friday,
July 29. The 62

Lumberjack World Championships final competition will take place on Saturday, July 30, at
6:00pm in historic Lumberjack Bowl, Hayward, WI.
Each year, an estimated 12,000 spectators and fans flock to Lumberjack Bowl to witness the fierce competition
and to experience the celebration of timber sports on the festival grounds. Gates open at 11:30am daily, for
ticketholders. Spectators can try their hand (or feet!) at logrolling, grab lunch or dinner from one of the food
vendors, visit the unique experiential displays and vendors, pick up a souvenir in the Lumberjack Shop, and
enjoy music in the Swinging Axe Beer Garden. There is plenty of timber sports action for families and friends,
alike. LWC is three-days of hearty, international competition wrapped up in good, old, north woods fun.
Competitions begin daily at 11:30am with main evening competitions beginning at 6:00pm (Opening
Ceremonies at 5:45pm each evening). Tickets for Lumberjack World Championships are available at

comedian Charlie Berens and his Midwest Survival Guide Tour to Lumberjack Bowl on Wednesday, July 27,
2022. Berens is host of the humorous Manitowoc Minute, an Emmy award-winning journalist and NYTimes
best-selling author of The Midwest Survival Guide.

Wednesday, July 27 Charlie Berens, Midwest Survival Guide Tour
o Live from Lumberjack Bowl Charlie Berens & the Midwest Survival Guide Tour. Gates open at
5pm for ticketholders. Food trucks, Swinging Axe Beer Garden, and unique vendors will be
available on the festival grounds preceding the show. Berens takes the stage at 7pm. Tickets

Thursday, July 28 Lumberjack World Championships Quarterfinal Competition
o Gates open at 11:30am, with competition qualifiers, demonstrations, unique vendors, food, and
fun throughout the day. Happy hour from 3-5pm in the Swinging Axe Beer Garden with live
music by Molly and the Danger Band. Professional Quarterfinals start at 6pm in the evening.

Friday, July 29 Lumberjack World Championships Semifinal Competition
o Gates open at 11:30am, with competition qualifiers, demonstrations, unique vendors, food, and
fun throughout the day. Happy hour from 3-5pm in the Swinging Axe Beer Garden, with live
music by Scott Kirby and special guest, Ed Willett. Professional Semifinals start at 6pm in the

Saturday, July 30 Lumberjack Run, Lumberjack World Championships Competition
o In conjunction with Lumberjack World Championships, the Birkie’s Lumberjack Run 5K Run/Walk
starts and finishes in Lumberjack Bowl on the shores of Lake Hayward. Participants will receive
a T-shirt (while supplies last). Entry fees for ages 18 and over are $35 through July 27, $40 from
July 28 through 29th, and $45 on race day (July 30). Ages 17 and under are $10 through race
