Jamaal Brown will deliver a keynote presentation entitled:
Living with Power in Seemingly Your Darkest Hour.
This presentation showcases examples of successful individuals of African descent throughout
the ages and will showcase strategies for overcoming life's obstacles and challenges.

Raquel Curtis "The Boujee Banker"
Join IG influencer, @boujeebanker, to learn how to make smart financial decisions while in
college by managing your spending habits. You will also learn how to take responsibility for
saving money and spending by developing a budget with your paychecks or financial aid.
Students will also receive supplemental digital resources from @boujeebanker and Anthony
O’Neal’s book, Graduate Survival Guide: 5 Mistakes You Can't Afford to Make in College, to
aid in their success after the workshop.

Jamaal Brown: Black 365 Knowledge Bowl
Jamaal Brown will facilitate a trivia style Black History quiz competition entitled,
The Black365 Knowledge Bowl.
This competition is a buzzer slapping, action-filled, academic competition where participants
answer a series of questions in African American History for a chance to call themselves Black365
Knowledge Bowl Champs! The purpose is to be an engaging educational, inspirational, entertaining
and informational hour of play regarding black history and prominent black people.

Orange County Green Book
JamSupport Black-owned businesses in Orange County with Santa Ana College’s very own OC Green
Book, a digital and physical guide created by members of the Black History Month committee in collabora-
tion with the Communications and Media Studies Department. Inspired by the Negro Motorist Green Book
— published during the Jim Crow era to promote businesses friendly to Black travelers — the guide in-
cludes a list of local Black businesses, professionals, cultural experiences and more. Pick up a physical
copy on campus anytime during February or download and print your own starting Feb. 1 at sac.edu/bhm.

Presentation providing wellness tools to support the needs of African American student and
staff. All participants will increase their knowledge of wellness practices including black love,
meditation, mindfulness, and yoga.

Join the SAC Black History Committee in our annual culminating celebration featuring
historian and professor Dr. Daniel Walker as the keynote speaker and gospel recording artist
Sonya Griffin. Dr. Walker will also engage participants in a round table discussion after the
keynote address.
