FOLDERS
Saving a document in a folder There is no charge to save a document or text in a folder. Documents and text in a folder may be accessed at no
charge for 12 months after the initial chargeable view. In transactional billing sessions, the initial chargeable view
occurs the first time a document is viewed (in or out of the folder). In hourly billing sessions, the initial chargeable
view occurs the first time a document is viewed in the folder (this initial view is charged at the applicable transactional
display charge for the document). Documents viewed in a folder after 12 months will incur the applicable transactional
display charge for the document. Hourly billing is suspended while browsing folders.
Sharing folders within your organization There is no charge to share a folder. Documents and text in a shared folder may be accessed at no charge for
12 months after the initial chargeable view by any individual within the organization with whom the folder is shared.
Sharing folders across organizations There is no charge to share a folder with people outside an organization. Outside the organization, an initial chargeable
view occurs the first time a document is viewed; it is charged according to the Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription
plan of the person viewing the document. There is no charge for subsequent views within the following 12 months
by anyone within an organization with which the folder is shared.
SUMMARY
On Thomson Reuters Westlaw, there are
three broad categories of chargeable events:
• Searching for documents
• Viewing documents
• Offline delivery of documents
The monthly fee you pay for your Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription covers searching (with the exception of
the specified searches listed in the Search Charges section) for documents on Thomson Reuters Westlaw, including
searching content not included in your plan. A search of all core legal content, therefore, is included in your monthly
fee, even though it may retrieve results from content not included in your plan.
The monthly fee also covers viewing documents from content that is included in your plan. When you view documents
from content not included in your plan, standard charges apply and you will be billed at the applicable rate for
that content.
Document Display Each display of a document incurs a transactional charge. Charges vary by content category (see the standard charges
chart). The same rate applies, no matter how the document is accessed (e.g., retrieved by citation, accessed from
a search result list, or viewed from a KeyCite result list). Charges for viewing documents are included or excluded
depending on the content covered by your Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription plan.
KeyCite Each citation checked in KeyCite incurs a charge of $0.00 under transactional billing. KeyCite charges are included
or excluded depending on your Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription plan.
Inline KeyCite Each document where the “Show KeyCite Flags” button is selected incurs a transactional charge of $0.00.
Offline Transmission Charges There is no charge for printing or downloading documents under transactional billing.
HOURLY BILLING
Billing Under per-minute billing, the monthly fee covers viewing documents and offline delivery of documents from content
that is included in your plan. It does not cover viewing documents and offline delivery of documents from content
that is not included in your plan. When you view or deliver documents offline from content not included in your plan,
standard charges apply and you will be billed at the applicable rate for that content (see the standard charges chart).
Browsing Charges Browsing charges for users who have selected hourly billing vary by what is being browsed:
• Time spent browsing the homepage and content category pages is charged at $5.00 per minute. These charges
are listed on your invoice as included charges.
• Time spent browsing a result page is charged at $10.00 per minute. These charges are listed on your invoice as
included charges.
• Time spent browsing documents varies by content category. Charges for viewing documents are included or
excluded depending on the content covered by your Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription plan.
KeyCite Time spent browsing KeyCite results is charged at $10.00 per minute. KeyCite charges are included or excluded
depending on your Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription plan.
Inline KeyCite Each document where the “Show KeyCite Flags” button is selected incurs a transactional charge of $0.00.
Tag to Print/Find and Print If a document selected has been viewed in the current session, only applicable delivery charges will apply. Delivery
prior to viewing a document will incur a transactional document display charge plus applicable delivery charges,
regardless of whether user is in an hourly or transactional billing session. Hourly users will incur a transactional
document display charge plus delivery charges.
Offline Transmission Charges Most documents can be delivered offline (printed or downloaded) by line or by document. Under per-minute billing,
charges vary by content category. See the standard charges chart for content-specific pricing for delivering documents.
ACCESSING THOMSON REUTERS WESTLAW ON AN iPAD OR MOBILE DEVICE
Only transactional billing is available when using the Thomson Reuters Westlaw iPad® app or Thomson Reuters Westlaw on a mobile device.

Search Charges
Search charges for users who have selected transactional billing are included in Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription plans. For cost recovery purposes,
a $99.00 search charge is incurred for running a search. These charges are listed on your invoice as included charges. Exceptions are noted below.
The following search charges are excluded from Thomson Reuters Westlaw subscription plans, unless an applicable subscription is purchased:
